JEMBER – Pabrik Gula Semboro (PG Semboro) Jember telah memulai proses petik tebu manten untuk tahun 2024 dengan penuh semangat.
Dalam upaya menghadapi kenaikan harga gula yang signifikan, PG Semboro menetapkan target peningkatan produksi gula sebesar 20 persen.
Kabupaten Jember telah merespons kenaikan harga gula yang mencapai harga eceran tertinggi (HET) sebesar Rp17.500, dengan harga pasar yang bisa mencapai Rp18.000 per kilogram gula.
Hal ini membuat masyarakat dan pemerintah merasa risau akan dampaknya.
Untuk mengatasi fluktuasi harga gula yang tidak menentu, PG Semboro fokus pada peningkatan produksi gula dengan melibatkan lebih banyak petani tebu dan memperluas lahan milik pabrik.
Dengan target produksi gula sebanyak 79.300 giling tebu, PG Semboro berharap dapat menghasilkan 56.300 ton gula.
General Manager Pabrik Gula Semboro, Agus Budi Juwono, menyatakan bahwa target produksi gula PG Semboro untuk tahun 2024 mengalami kenaikan sebesar 20 persen.
Selain itu, Agus juga membagikan sejarah tradisi tebu manten dan arak-arakan yang telah dilakukan sejak tahun 1928 pada masa pemerintahan Hindia-Belanda.
Tradisi ini melibatkan perayaan buka giling dengan pasar murah, hiburan untuk masyarakat, dan pagelaran seni yang melibatkan penggunaan baju adat serta tradisi penghormatan terhadap raden bagus rosan dan Diyah ayu roro manis.
“Ini memang tradisi dari 1928,” ujar Agus, Rabu (29/5/2024).
Dengan kenaikan produksi gula yang ditargetkan dan tradisi yang terus dilestarikan, PG Semboro siap memberikan kontribusi positif bagi industri gula dan masyarakat sekitar.
